IT IS unclear whether Boris Johnson best serves his bid for the London mayoralty by doing nothing or indulging in the odd bout of campaigning, since both have their pitfalls. This week, after a lengthy period of inactivity, the blonde bombshell decided to give voice to his thoughts on crime. In fact, he doesn’t appear to have thought about the issue that much. Unsurprisingly, he’s against crime. He wants to increase police patrols, but doesn’t appear to know how to do this, apart from “cutting bureaucracy†– whatever that means. He also spoke about “designing out crime†from the London plan – whatever that means. He pledged to “drive out political correctness†in policing knife crime. There are fears that this means many more people from ethnic minority can expect to be randomly and routinely stopped and searched. Bizarrely, the bold Boris also said that, if he becomes Mayor, he will “hold the Mayor to accountâ€. Does this mean he will sack himself if he turns out to be a plonker? He could do that now.
