MEANWHILE, those who think Nick Clegg may be more right-wing than many people in the Conservative Party have been given fresh grounds for their suspicion with the news that he has given a job to the man who helped to run Margaret Thatcher’s successful advertising campaign for the 1987 general election win. He is John Sharkey, a former joint managing director of Saatchi & Saatchi UK, and now the new Liberal Democrat leader’s advisor on strategic communications. Cleggy has also announced a “root and branch†review of his party, but it is not clear what he will do if the conclusion of this turns out to be that it’s a bit rubbish.
