GPs are one of the biggest obstacles to progress in the NHS. They are the only significant part of the Health Service that are not fully integrated into the NHS. Their guild the BMA opposed the formation of the NHS and GPs are still privaye prectices that are contracted by the NHS to provide patient services. Most GPs' practices are profit centres on their own with the GPs trousering large salaries from their partnerships whilst paying the staff they employ (receptionists, nurses etc etc) as little as they can get away with.
The Doctors in my surgery all work a maximum 4-day week (with no night cover) and are paid very large salaries to do so.
Polyclinics run by the NHS in urban areas would be a god send. Don't listen the mendacious nonsense spouted by GPs when they claim to defend the NHS, they are only speaking for their own base self-interest.

The GPs involved will work at the store in addition to their regular hours at local surgeries in Heywood and Middleton.
