COMEDIAN – and former Socialist Worker – Mark Steel was on good form at the launch of his new book What’s Going On? (reviewed in Tribune last month). “The worst gig I’ve ever done was a corporate do in front of an audience of archetypal posh, drunk, rich 1980s yuppies. One guy threw a runner bean at me, so I said: ‘That’s why you’re earning a fortune, you’re so intelligent you can throw a runner bean.’ And he said: ‘It’s not a runner bean, it’s mange tout’ which pretty much summed up the situation.”
