WHERE there’s muck… Hilary Armstrong, who was “new” Labour’s local government minister when local councils first started scrapping weekly local rubbish collections, has taken up a lucrative job with one of Europe’s largest waste companies. The MP for Durham North West is to be chairman of the advisory committee for the French-owned Sita company. Advising, in presumably in this case, how to persuade the Government to adopt the company’s ideas, such as a “bin tax” and charges according to the amount of rubbish thrown out. Watch that space.
