The problem for the party machine is that stamping down on real debate and discussion has left the party a husk. When the Regional Party up here in the North West exhorts councillors and members in Greater Manchester to campaign for a Yes vote in the recent Congestion Charge referendum its 'command & control' fails and they are ignored. No debate no discussion no airing of concerns - no action. A passive and inactive party that faces a real pasting in June's Euro elections. Hardly new – this has being going on for over a decade.

When the Regional Party up here in the North West exhorts councillors and members in Greater Manchester to campaign for a Yes vote in the recent Congestion Charge referendum its ‘command & control’ fails and they are ignored.
