LABOURLIST, the “independent grassroots e-network” (in other words, a blogging website run by Gordon Brown’s new best friends) has become the butt of jokes across the internet community before its own official launch date of February 12. Not only has website editor Derek Draper got himself into slanging matches with more experienced bloggers who took offence at the way he deletes “junk” comments, but the tone of the site occasionally resembles the egregious “Prime Ministerial Decree” column in Private Eye. This week, LabourList drew its readers’ attention to a Times leader criticising the government with the words “Do we detect the hand of Phil Collins, ex-Blair adviser, now at the Times?” That would be the disgraced Blairo-capitalist running-dog and Charlie Whelan’s bitter foe, no doubt.
