AFTER more than a decade away from the Conservative front bench, Kenneth Clarke is back. Previously he only wanted to sit on it if he was Tory leader and, preferably, Prime Minister. David Cameron need not stop there if he is bereft of ideas. He could take a leaf out of Gordon Brown’s book and add some peers to his team. What about Norman Tebbit, Nigel Lawson Geoffrey Howe and Norman Lamont – just to remind us
all what the Tories used to
be like when they were mistakenly elected to govern the country.
