IT’S nice to be able to report some good news for a change. In the interests of meaningful and comprehensible communication, the Local Government Association has produced a list of jargon it wants to see banned. Among the impenetrable gobbledegook which no one can understand – quite possibly including those who came up with it – are such stomach-churning linguistic monstrosities as “predictors of beaconicity”, “taxonomy” and “coterminous, stakeholder engagement”. Since much of this rubbish comes under the heading of “Blairite bollocks”, perhaps we know who to blame for it.
