LABOUR MP John Austin’s call for Met Commissioner Paul Stephenson to mount an investigation into the mystery of the damaged Erith and Thamesmead postal ballots at least has some logistical merit. His office is less than a stone’s throw away from the scene of what party officials are calling an “act of vandalism” for which Blairite wannabe Georgia Gould is publicly blaming old Labourites. Sir Paul should certainly start by asking when on earth an “old” Labour figure was allowed in the party headquarters.
