It’s bad enough, or simply just sad enough, that Barack Obama has to attend summits with a man who makes racist remarks about his tan. But Silvio Berlusconi is diplomacy personified compared to David Cameron’s new friends in Europe. So, if the Tories win the next election, how good will Barack Obama feel meeting with a Prime Minister who has a special relationship with homophobic, anti-semitic massacre-deniers? How will Dave’s decision to choose to align the Tories with Michal Kaminski and his far-right rabble while turning his back on the Tories’ traditional home in the European Peoples Party (members Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy) be judged in the pantheon of world statesmen? Chances are, if Mr Obama wants to speak to Europe, it won’t be Dave he will be phoning.
