Do they have no shame (1)? We are talking about former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, who couldn’t get out of Government fast enough. Now she wants her old job back. In an interview this month, she tells Total Politics magazine in resolute tones that, yes, she would be fighting her Redditch seat at the next election. Well, she would, wouldn’t she? Then she is asked whether if, in the unlikely event of holding the seat, she would like a return to government. The answer is even more resolute, an unqualified: “Yes”. Now she didn’t have to say that, she really didn’t need to say that.
