David Cameron appears happy to go along with his new friends in Europe in spite of their racist, anti-Semite, neo-fascist tendencies, but now an even bigger horror has emerged to test the Tory leaders to the bizarre alliance in the European Parliament. It couldn’t get much worse. Michal Kaminski, the Polish leader of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, has spoken out in favour of the Lisbon Treaty. The Tories think the treaty is the anti-Christ and it was partly to assuage the innate hostility to Europe within his party that Dave signed up with this ragbag in the first place. But Kaminski, from the Polish Law and Justice Party, has declared that the treaty is good for Poland. That, he says, also goes for the Common Agricultural Policy, which the Tories regard as British money down the European farmers’ drain. It can only end in tears.
