Supporters of the Vestas factory protest have vowed to continue their campaign after protesting workers are removed from the firm’s Isle of Wight plant.

Bailiffs are expected to evict six remaining workers from the Newport factory after Vestas secured a possession order on Tuesday.

But Sophie Lewis of Workers Climate Action said: “That doesn’t mean they’ve stopped the protest. There’s going to be a presence in Newport hopefully big enough to make it difficult for the bailiffs.”

A coalition of environmental campaigners and trade unionists is planning a national day of action in support of the UK wind industry. Ms Lewis suggested “direct action” would feature.
