I was watching the news this morning and I was really sad.the Australian government was making an appoligie to the british people and how happy I was .Although it has been 60 years as we say it `s never too late. Don`t you think so it `s about time the british government do make a make an appoligy on national tv so the world can recognise there was an island called chagos archipellago and diego and thas was a really a mistake

Mike's response on behalf of the Falkland Islanders is well understood. In fact I have often spoken to and compared notes with Sukey Cameron, the Representative of the Falkland Islands in London, and we have discussed many common threads between these two Overseas Territories.

There are differences, however, and the main point which emerges from the historical record is the fact that Britain was prepared to go to war to save the Falklands from a foreign military invasion, whereas the Chagos islanders suffered a military invasion at the invitation of the UK, which had such terrible consequences for them. It was the justification put forward by the FCO for these two paradoxical positions that makes the FCO seem so two-faced.

Obviously the journalist who wrote this article has little or no knowledge of the Falkland Islands, and I believe the journalist feels the less he does know the better his article is supported. Shame people around the world are so ignorant towards my home country.

This article also forgets the bulleying tactics of the Argentine government, and their attempts to persuade the UN that the people of the Falklands have no human rights.

This probably isnt pointed out because again, it doesnt help the journalists arguement.
