How the nominations stack up

There are various unofficial counts of how many nominations the candidates for Labour leadership have. The Labour Party website is updating its list twice a day (at 12.30 and 17.30) with those who have formally nominated one of the candidates, rather than those who have merely expressed support.

So far, the tally is:

Ed Miliband: 39

David Miliband: 36

Ed Balls: 7

Andy Burnham: 3

Diane Abbott: 0

John McDonnell: 0

Only Ed Miliband has nominated himself so far.

Oh dear, I’m afraid that this looks like another bad showing by the Labour left. Had Cruddas stood it would have probably been different, but then again, with no Deputy Leadership election, once again voices from the left will be ignored.
