Labour party activists are canvassing support among affiliated trade unions for changes to Labour Party rules at annual conference in Manchester. The Campaign for Labour Party Democracy is confident of getting union support on proposals to allow reports from the National Policy Forum to be voted on in parts, rather than as a whole; to allow constituencies to submit rule changes
alongside motions; and to allow rule changes to be debated in the same year they are proposed, instead of being delayed for a year as currently.
For the first time since Gordon Brown’s 2007 rule changes, delegates will be able to vote on policy issues.
