The Fire Brigades Union has reacted angrily to the London fire authority chief’s refusal to investigate assaults that left two striking firefighters in hospital.
Three pickets were hit by fire engines and a car driving into fire stations during the London Fire Brigade strike earlier this month.
But London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority chair Brian Coleman refused to discuss a request by authority member Darren Johnson to hold an investigation into the attacks, or the apparent refusal by private firefighters AssetCo to hand over a first aid kit after one incident.
London Assembly member Murad Qureshi called Mr Coleman’s refusal “pretty irresponsible”.
