The latest Pirates of the Caribbean film, set in mysterious seas, continues to delight audiences across Europe. Jack Sparrow and his cunning crew bend the rules and dodge the law with breathtaking insouciance in their pursuit of personal gain. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that something similar is going on today in the Caribbean – and other parts of the world – but this is no fantasy from the studios of Walt Disney.
