Tribune is changing. From next week we are moving to a distinctive new format which will set Tribune apart from the rest of the weekly political journals.

Your Tribune will appear in a newspaper format technically known as “the continental”, a modern design half way between a tabloid and a broadsheet which will combine seriousness with style and clarity. The new format has the advantage of allowing more flexibility and freedom in design, a more interesting presentation of content and a more enjoyable read.

The new Tribune will still feature the magazine’s usual columnists, analysis, comment, features and unrivalled books and arts section, but with increased news focus, in-depth features, some of the best political cartoonists in the field, leading commentary and special supplements. Larger pages will provide room for more content but in a compact, easy to read layout.

This exciting new development coincides with the launch of Tribune’s pioneering digital archive where 75 years of British politics and labour movement history is available in just a few keystrokes at www.archive.tribunemagazine.co.uk. Access will be free to Tribune subscribers who will still receive their weekly edition in addition to increased web-exclusive content at www.tribunemagazine.co.uk.

Existing subscribers can also take advantage of our special offer  by selling Tribune and pocketing the difference between the cover price and the subscription price as a donation to local constituency party funds. That means for every copy sold at the cover price 50p can be kept for party funds. Order your copies in advance, with no postage to pay, from Paul Spencer-Thompson at pst@tribunemagazine.co.uk or 020 7433 6410.

This is another big step in the development of Tribune in its 75th year. We hope our readers will share our excitement and take the opportunity to get engaged through the platforms above or by keeping us in touch with what’s happening in your area. Editor Chris McLaughlin welcomes your thoughts on the new design as well as ideas on topics for debate and articles.

Tribune  is an independent weekly journal with a social democratic perspective that provides an invaluable and relevant platform for labour movements news, information and debate.

Tribune is your paper. Make sure you’re part of it.

The only place you can read all of Tribune's articles as soon as they are published is in the magazine. To find out more about subscribing from as little as £19, click here.

Good luck to all Centre left papers! Itsbecause the media is so Right Wing dominated we have a crisis in confidence now.

Sorry but I’m not that keen on the new format. Blurry images, a lack of colour and an overall reduction in quality made my weekly read less enjoyable than usual. Looks like the change in format is more about cost savings than setting Tribune apart from other weekly political journals. If Tribune is our paper, was there a discussion with subscribers to find out their views on the change to the new format?

Now all we need is a left  party to go with it.
